The Importance of Internal Communication

How much importance do you place on internal communication within your business?

Communication can be a real weakness in businesses that can often easily be fixed. Keeping stakeholders informed includes telling everyone internally what is going on to join the dots and create information flow.

In terms of marketing, internal comms should always be an important channel included in any planning that you're doing. This aspect is often overlooked and focus is given to how to tell customers and the outside world the exciting message you want to convey.

However, not briefing employees across all departments can lead to your brand being damaged or the message not landing as you want it to, through appearing disjointed to the market. You may have told the sales team about the latest campaign or incentive, but how about the technical team or the customer service team - to name a few - who are also important customer touch points?

On top of that, it empowers those outside of sales and marketing to have that knowledge to share and also gains engagement and buy in to support the activity, driving a positive culture and maybe even feel proud to be part of the company.

As an extension of your teams, agencies and any relevant third parties should also be given the full picture - don't forget, they're your advocates too - whilst they may know their part inside out, they can better engage and support if they can see the wider plan.

And for bonus points - it demonstrates all the great work that the marketing team does 🙌🏻
